teeth grinding

What causes me to grind my teeth during sleep?

Teeth grinding, also called bruxism, happens when you clench your jaw, causing your teeth to grind against one another. This commonly happens during sleep. Causes for teeth grinding may include stress, but more often have to do with problems like crooked or missing teeth or a malocclusion (misaligned bite).

Will grinding my teeth cause serious damage?

Teeth grinding can be harmful to your health. It can wear down teeth, opening the door for periodontal disease and other infections, and even result in severe headaches and jaw pain. If you grind your teeth, ask Dr. Ramsey about ways to prevent the harmful effects of bruxism.
