My dentures slip when I talk and eat, how do I prevent that from happening?

When you get dentures, it is important to keep in mind that they take some getting used to. The muscles in the mouth need time to learn how to support a denture.

During the first few days to weeks, we advise that you practice talking with your dentures in by reading aloud. When eating, refrain from sticky or excessively chewy foods. We also recommend that you do not chew gum.

Be sure to visit Dr. Ramsey regularly so that he can make necessary adjustments to your dentures so that they fit comfortably. Properly fitted dentures should not slip and slide. If you choose to use a denture adhesive, ask Dr. Ramsey which ones are ADA-approved. He can give you instructions on how to properly use an adhesive.
